Terms of Service

CLEVERSEO SERVICE — TERMS OF SERVICE (v1.7, 2 November 2026)

1. Provider

The CleverSEO service (“Service”) is provided by CleverSEO Oy (Business ID 3197294-5, Finland) (“we”, “us”).

2. Plugin, Premium, Subscription and Service.

CleverSEO for WP (the “Plugin”) is free software licensed under GPLv2 or later.

CleverSEO Premium for WP (“Premium”) is a separate add-on plugin, also licensed under GPLv2 or later. Premium adds applying fix suggestions and rolling them back on your site. It may be updated from time to time. Premium uses the Plugin’s connection to the Service and does not connect separately.

Using Premium’s apply features and receiving Premium updates requires a paid subscription (the “Subscription”), described in section 4. The Subscription is what you pay for; the Plugin and Premium themselves are licensed free of charge under GPLv2 or later, and these Terms do not limit your rights under those licences.

These Terms govern the separate CleverSEO Service (the “Service”) that the Plugin connects to: site crawling, the AI site summary, and AI-generated fix suggestions delivered through our backend, and, for Premium, checking whether your Subscription is active.

The Plugin’s local features — the internal audit, history, and the PDF report — do not require the Service.

3. Connecting a site.

Connecting registers your site’s address with the Service and issues a site key. You must have the right to administer the site you connect. You are responsible for keeping your WordPress credentials and site key confidential.

4. The Subscription and quotas.

Connecting a site is free and includes a monthly quota of audits and fix suggestions for the Service’s crawl and AI features. We may adjust quotas prospectively; material reductions to the free quota will be announced in advance.

The Subscription is a recurring paid plan that enables Premium’s apply features and Premium updates for your connected site. Its price, billing period, and cancellation terms are stated at the time of purchase.

The Subscription is sold by our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record and is the legal seller; its terms apply to payment, taxes, invoicing, and refunds, and are referenced at the point of purchase, together with your rights under applicable consumer law.

If the Subscription ends or lapses (we may allow a short grace period after a failed payment), you can no longer apply new fixes with Premium and Premium stops receiving updates. Rolling back changes that Premium already applied keeps working, and your history and the PDF report remain.

5. Acceptable use; no reverse engineering; reservation of rights.

You may not use the Service to audit sites you are not authorized to administer, attempt to circumvent usage limits, resell the Service, or use it in violation of applicable law.

Except to the extent expressly permitted by mandatory applicable law, you may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, probe, scrape, or otherwise attempt to discover or extract the Service’s underlying logic, algorithms, models, AI prompts, or internal operation. You also may not use the Service or its outputs to train competing models or to develop a competing service. These restrictions apply only to the Service and do not limit any rights you have under the applicable GPLv2 or later licence with respect to any separately distributed plugin or software.

The Service is based on our backend proprietary technology and databases which are trade secret of us and our licensors and protected by intellectual and industrial property rights of us and our licensors. No rights are granted save for the limited right to use the Service pursuant to these Terms of Service.

6. Your content and data.

Site data processed by the Service (such as URLs, titles, meta fields, and content excerpts) is handled as described in our Privacy Policy (https://cleverseo.fi/privacy/). Fix decisions, applied changes, and rollback history are stored in your own WordPress database and remain yours.

7. Sub-processors.

We use sub-processors to provide the Service, currently Anthropic (AI processing), DataForSEO (site crawling), and Hetzner (server infrastructure in the EU). An up-to-date list of sub-processors is maintained in the Privacy Policy.

8. Availability; early access features.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. Features marked as early access may change or be discontinued. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

9. Disclaimer and liability.

The Service provides automated suggestions; you review and approve changes before they are written to your site, and you are responsible for maintaining backups. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability under these Terms is limited to the amounts you have paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination.

You may stop using the Service at any time, for example by deactivating or deleting the plugin, and you may ask us to delete your site’s Service data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

Fixes already applied stay in your SEO plugin’s own fields. Rolling them back requires the same SEO plugin they were written to still be active on your site.

With CleverSEO Premium installed, applied fixes can still be rolled back in the plugin, even if your Subscription has ended. Image alt text fixes can be rolled back regardless of the SEO plugin, because they are stored in the WordPress media library.

11. Changes.

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes are resolved in the District Court of Helsinki, Finland, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.

13. Salvatory clause

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.
